Position Objectives:  To assist Council’s Environmental Health Officers in the execution of regulatory functions under the Local Government Act, Public Health Act, the Food Act, the Environmental Management and Pollution Control Act, and other relevant activities

Location: Riverside – or as otherwise determined
Job Type: Full Time - 9 Day Fortnight
Career Level: Technical/Inspectorial Level 2

Key Responsibilities:

Under instruction from and, when necessary under the supervision of Council’s Environmental Health Officers, assist with the execution of the following:

  • Council’s Immunisation Program;
  • Assist with Food Business registrations, annual renewals and monitoring;
  • Complete relevant parts of s337 Certificates;
  • Undertake initial response to & investigation of complaints about unhealthy housing, nuisance noise, air
    quality, pollution, food contamination or other relevant complaint;
  • Review of aerated wastewater treatment system (AWTS) quarterly reports & contract renewals;
  • Assist with maintenance of Public Health Risk Activities, Regulated Systems & Private Water Suppliers registrations/licences, annual renewals and monitoring;
  • Assist with enforcement of the provisions of Acts and Regulations relating to public health, food safety
    and environmental health;
  • Undertake Recreational Waters Sampling Program when required;
  • Collate data to inform quarterly and annual reporting requirements;
  • Review relevant sections of council website;
  • Prepare & submit articles for The Beacon council newsletter;
  • Liaise with Council’s Media Officer for Health Promotion activities; and
  • Other duties as directed subject to possessing any required skills and/or qualifications.
