About the Position

Working as the senior member of our close knit and hardworking Tasmanian team of 4, the primary objectives of this role are to;

1. Establish yourself as the Meyer Timber market voice in the Tasmanian market;

2. Further develop and grow the long-standing customer relationships already in place; and,

3. Do the hard yards in the field to win new business and grow our Tasmanian customer base;

Working in partnership with our established national Sales Team you will strategize and help set our Tasmanian business plan and sales agenda for the years ahead. Regular sales offers will also be provided, packaged up, well presented and ready for you to take to the market.

This position has an 80% focus on Customer Relationship & Account Management and a 20% focus on New Business Development. It will involve facilitating the end to end sales cycle from initial qualification to deal close to ongoing relationship management [I.e. prospecting, identifying decision makers and establishing initial contact, identifying the customer need and finding the best solution, keeping a sales pipeline, presentations and demonstrations, proposals, sales contract preparation and sign off, ongoing relationship management, relationship reviews etc.].

Key to your success, will be your ability to deliver an exceptional ‘Customer Experience’ and build great relationships with our customers, many of which you’ll speak with on a weekly basis. Ideally, you will spend 4 days on the road calling on customers, as in person communication wherever possible is preferred. You will typically be selling to Owners and Timber Managers across a range of industries, so of which include Timber Merchants, Truss Plants and Window Manufacturers. The best thing about our industry is definitely the people! And once you’ve proven to our customer base that you’re there for them and that they can trust you, you’ll find that some of the relationships you establish will last a lifetime!

The role also involves lots of problem solving! You’ll need to listen carefully to the customer, understand their problem and need and then deliver them the right Meyer Timber solution. Here, we are focused on never letting our customers down and building open and honest ‘win win’ relationships with our customers. Over time, you’ll reach a point where you understand your customer’s needs so well that you can become proactive and forecast and predict what they need to order next!

  • Sound numeracy and literacy skills.
